South African Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele will this week introduce the Air Traffic Flow Management Tool (ATFM) as part
of the October Transport Month 2009 campaign.
This highly integrated system will assist with collaborative information flow between the Air Traffic Control, Airport Operations and the Aircraft Operators regarding strategic and tactical real time and future use of any airspace and airport situation. The project will also support Green ATM by ensuring the achievement of lesser fuel burning for the majority of flights thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
